As time went on, the brothers began to focus more of their collaborative efforts and time on Dwarf Fortress, and by 2004, further development of Armok had been put on indefinite hiatus. HistoryÄwarf Fortress entered the development stage in 2002 as a side project of Tarn Adams, who conceived the idea as a sequel title to his previous project Slaves to Armok: God of Blood. Dwarf Fortress is most well-known for its high level of complexity and depth of gameplay, as well as being credited as the inspiration for numerous other popular sandbox games, including the widely successful indie game Minecraft. Set in a procedurally-generated high fantasy world akin to ancient mythology and other Tolkien-style settings, the objective of the game is to take control of a group of dwarves and build a successful and wealthy mountainhome.
